Part of Symplr’s suite of enterprise software, Contract Time Tracking keeps physician’s time & activity logging, tracking, governance, & approvals seamlessly synced across all contracts, facilities, & departments in a health system.

Part of Symplr’s suite of enterprise software, Contract Time Tracking keeps physician’s time & activity logging, tracking, governance, & approvals seamlessly synced across all contracts, facilities, & departments in a health system.
THE ASK
Limited by a web app not optimized for mobile, physicians were largely waiting until the end of pay periods to log timesheets creating problems with accuracy, timeliness, labor cost management, & compliance risk. These inefficiencies meant huge extra costs to healthcare systems while also taking precious time away from their primary goal: delivering outstanding patient care.
With demand across existing users, active sales pursuits, & the executive board, Symplr sought to dramatically improve their time tracking service with a convenient, capable, & user friendly mobile app redesigned from the ground up.

Prior to project kickoff I was given one week to create a prototype & video walkthrough proof of concept for our quarterly sales conference & board meeting. The buzz generated from these presentations resulted in a rapid green-lighting of the project & budget.

We had an existing design system for web applications but nothing for mobile apps, so a big early lift was translating desktop components to mobile (icons, dropdowns & date pickers, type ramp, etc.) & the creation of new components exclusive to mobile patterns (nav bar, tab bar navigation, action sheets, etc.)
This was also the first opportunity to consider & document how design system elements would incorporate common touch interactions such as swiping, long-press, pinch-to-zoom, etc.
The company went through one rebrand during development & a subsequent acquisition after release (necessitating a migration from Sketch to Figma & another product identity rebrand).
Early creation of & adherence to our design system meant these application re-skins across design & development took minutes instead of days.
